back [Liam]

i'm back... honolulu was cool, i have a lot to share but right now i must sleep.

might not be on much in the next couple days, my dsl is disconnected.
(mood: super-pissed)

on the plus side i only sustained ~ 3 pounds of damage from the week of kahlua pig and beer, though my gallon of alcohol from the 3 hour stopover + 4 hour flight has not been fully processed and added to the bill just yet.

ROOS first day ROOS of work ROOS [Liam]

ok so as i was on the way out to start my new job at ePingo.com in Fremont, i was pretty nervous. i was trying to get out a quick blog about how i felt like it was the first day of school or something, which was to include this sloppily thrown-together illustration:

so anyway i realized it was stupid to be late so i could finish, and then when i got back i had photoshop and blogger open and i decided i might as well finish detailing my illustration even though it was no longer timely.
i began coloring from top to bottom.
i wanted to put STAR WARS on the lunchbox, since when i was in elementary school i had a "Droids" lunchbox (star wars spin-off), but the text if properly scaled and foreshortened would hardly be legible.
i skipped that and moved on to the shoes.
it was then that i remembered another treasured childhood belonging of mine, ROOS shoes. apparently nobody else rocked the roos when they were little kids, so for your information they were jogging-type shoes with pockets for keys or change or whatever else you could manage to fit. anyway, i googled them up and sure enough you can buy ROOS online!!!!! according to the website i visited, shoes.com, "roos are back" so i guess they were gone at some point. works for me.
i've narrowed my own purchase down to one of these particular models:
this is my #1 pick. it comes in black instead of blue, which also looks good, but i plan on wearing my ROOS in the most conspicuous fashion possible. also important is the actual text next to the logo.

these are cool. second choice. i've decided lately that i haven't been giving golf enough credit-- watched the u.s. open on father's day and it was actually very entertaining. anyway these have golf appeal i.m.o.

this pair gets a sentimental vote being that it's probably the most similar to my original roos, though i think they had a maroon trim. also new this time around are laces (though if velcro was available i would fsho get it no questions asked).

cool looking shoe. something i would wear even if i wasn't rediscovering my childhood. two major strikes though: (1) does not say ROOS in big letters anywhere visible (2)does not seem to feature a pocket, or at least a functional one.

anyway, work at ePingo was cool today. mainly just learning the ropes of commercial-style printing. even though my photoshop knowledge was to be the bread-and-butter of my work there, i learned a ton of new stuff in photoshop for photo editing and retouching, and proper formatting for printing. it's basically all the stuff i was bad at handling when i was in school taking electronic art classes. something about the fear of getting fired (and not having a curve of mediocrity to ride) really kicked the learning centers of my brain into high gear-- i was the master of "monkey style" photoshop but now i'm learning "tiger style"... except more like i can manipulater adjustment layers, effect masks, color profiles and color levels now (i think tiger style sounds much more interesting).

--{intermission for something actually funny}--
Chris Ramirez sent me this picture, which he and I would like to now share with you:

Ramirez, C. (Associated Press)

yeah! i know!

that kid does not look happy...

the sheep could give a shit, though.

i love it.

--{aaaand we're back}--

anyway i'm about to go to sleep so i can get up at 5am to go to the airport, see my parents to their flight to honolulu, and then wait at my gate for 2 MORE HOURS like a dumbass. first, though, here's my own photoshop tribute to that incredible photo:

another quickie [Liam]

Shit! Fuck!
I was hoping to drop an 8-bomb on this planet.
Though I was admittedly hard on myself taking the test.

Check it out for yourself:

Lemme know some results in the comments section if you would be so kind.

ICE-T. [Liam]

I don't know why he pisses me off so much.
Seriously, I don't care about the fact that he gained fame pushing "Cop Killer" before making a living playing a cop on TV in some SVU-type crap. I consider him the black Fred Durst, and that's pretty annoying I suppose... And also, there's that lisp-- you cannot sound hardcore with a voice like his. Yet still he tries.
ANYWAY, I was just thinking the other day while listening to him narrate the Mike Tyson documentary (pattern?) "Beyond the Fame" (or some crap) that pretty much anyone could wreck Ice-T.
So, I made an animation about it. It contains graphic, coarse language-- as a result, you have to click this warning to view it:

BOOM. That's wassup.
(Longer post soon... btw I'm ~ 22 yrs 363 days old right now)

Common [Lester]

Just picked up the new Common joint, Be.

From intro to end, it's solid as hell, a nice departure from Common's one-hit albums. In the past it's seemed like he put all of his effort into one single to get airplay but lagged on the rest of the album: rushed, tired, burnt.

The only charts on this album that I would say are like that are Testify (because he could've done a lot more w/ the lyrics and story) and adding the Chappelle's Show performance (it's dope, but too easy).

Anyway, not going to pretend like I write for XXL. Go out and get it.
